Lefkosia (Nicosia), the capital of Cyprus, is the last divided city in Europe. The city’s Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities were first separated by the British in 1956.

Subsequently, after intercommunal violence escalated in 1963, the international community hardened the divide, creating the Green Line. Named for the colour of the ink used to mark it on the map, it was extended after the Turkish invasion in 1974 to divide the whole island.

For over 50 years, once vibrant streets in the heart of the capital – thousands of homes and businesses – have been inside a UN controlled Buffer Zone, off limits to Cypriots living on both sides of the divide.

Guided by the memories of people who once lived there, this unique VR/360 experience invites you behind the barbed wire to explore three iconic LOST SPACES inside the city’s Buffer Zone.
