The Bureau of the European Committee of the Regions will hold its 238th meeting in Lefkosia on 9-10 February 2026.
Agenda highlights
High-level guest speakers, experts, and Bureau members will discuss how digital innovation, research and blue technologies can strengthen the preparedness and resilience of Europe's cities, regions, and coastal communities. They will also explore the key role local and regional authorities play in driving these solutions, implementing them on the ground, and safeguarding their communities in times of increasing environmental and societal challenges.
Deliberations will begin at 08:30 on 10 February, with opening remarks by Ms Kata Tüttő, President of the European Committee of the Regions, followed by welcome addresses by Ms Eleni Loucaidou, Member of the Municipal Council of Lefkosia and Member of the European Committee of the Regions, and Mr Andreas Vyras, President of the Union of Cyprus Municipalities. The event will feature a keynote address by Mr Constantinos Ioannou, Minister of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus. Participants will then have the opportunity to debate in two panel discussions on (a) digital innovation and research for prepared and resilient cities and (b) regions and blue innovation for the preparedness and resilience of islands and coastal communities.
