The informal meeting provides a flexible setting for the heads of the respective EU national veterinary authorities, facilitating the open exchange of views on emerging animal health, veterinary public health, and animal welfare issues.
It supports early coordination, experience-sharing, and strategic discussion, particularly on disease preparedness and crisis management.
The informal setting also facilitates alignment of EU approaches and coordination of common positions for international engagement, including cooperation and representation within WOAH (World Organisation for Animal Health).
