The purpose of the International Conference on Sport Tourism (3–4 June 2026, Lefkosia) is to explore the development and impact of sport tourism through a global and policy-oriented lens.

It will bring together policymakers, experts, academics, international organisations, and private-sector stakeholders to examine five themes: sustainability, regional and community impacts, destination marketing, public–private–community partnerships, and technology and innovation in sport tourism.

The Council Conclusions on “Sport Tourism as a Driver for Sustainable Development” will be presented at the Conference, providing the foundation for discussions. Building on these Conclusions, the Conference will aim to expand the dialogue on sport tourism and offer a broader, global perspective on its development and impact.

The event will include:

•    Five thematic panels structured as follows:
•    Panel I: Sustainable Sport Tourism in EU and Global Frameworks;
•    Panel II: Regional and Community Impacts of Sport Tourism;
•    Panel III: Destination Marketing through Sport Tourism;
•    Panel IV: Public–Private–Community Partnerships (PPCPs) in Sport Tourism;
•    Panel V: Technology and Innovation in Sport Tourism.

Each panel will explore subtopics such as sustainability in mega-events, local and regional sport tourism strategies, the role of partnerships and digital innovation, and case studies from international sport events. The discussions are expected to generate key recommendations for integrating sport tourism into EU and national sport policies. The conclusions and outcomes of the Conference will help shape future policies and initiatives at international, EU, and national levels.
