The meeting of the EU Working Group on Floods (WGF) is an official key forum under the European Commission's Common Implementation Strategy (CIS) for the EU Floods Directive, bringing together member state experts, the Commission (like DG-Environment), and stakeholders to coordinate, harmonize, and support the implementation of flood risk management across Europe, sharing best practices, defining terminology, and tackling challenges like climate change impacts.
WGF is the central EU body for coordinating the implementation of the EU Floods Directive and providing guidance to MS for its implementation. The main focus of the group is to empower MS into providing practical, coordinated action to protect citizens and the environment from increasing flood risks.
The meeting will be held following two-day workshop on water management, with a focus on reducing flood risks.
