Place

Filoxenia Conference Centre

Location

This informal ministerial meeting will bring together ministers from across Europe to exchange views on current challenges and strategic priorities shaping the future of the transport sector.

Strengthening the resilience of Europe’s transport infrastructure — including ports and rail networks — is essential for ensuring secure supply chains, supporting the green and digital transition and reinforcing the Union’s economic security. Ministers will be invited to reflect on these objectives. Furthermore, the Cyprus Presidency will seek to advance political momentum on the EU Ports Strategy.

Bringing together EU Transport Ministers, representatives of the European Commission, European Parliament and invited stakeholders, the Informal meeting of Transport ministers will provide a forum for an exchange of views on strengthening the resilience, competitiveness and strategic autonomy of Europe’s transport system.

Agenda highlights

On 28 April, Heads of Delegations will take part in a guided gallery tour in Lefkosia, followed by an official dinner hosted by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works of the Republic of Cyprus.

On 29 April, ministers will convene for the informal meeting at the Filoxenia Conference Centre in Lefkosia.

The first session will focus on accelerating the deployment of interoperable railway technologies in Europe, with particular emphasis on improving efficiency, predictability and coordination in certification and authorisation procedures, as well as advancing the deployment of the European Rail Traffic Management System.

The second session will address the role of European ports as key pillars of transport security, competitiveness and strategic autonomy. Ministers will exchange views on strengthening the security and resilience of ports, enhancing their role in supply chains and military mobility, and improving their integration with inland transport networks.
The meeting will conclude with a family photo, followed by a working lunch and a press conference.
