European Archives Group Experts Meeting (EAG)

The European Archives Group (EAG) is an official expert group composed of representatives from the national archives of EU Member States. Its mission is to promote cooperation and coordination on matters relating to archives. The EAG advises the European Commission on issues that affect archives. The Group meets once every six months in the country holding the EU Presidency. 

 

European Board of National Archivists Conference (ΕΒΝΑ)

The European Board of National Archivists (EBNA) is a key forum where the directors of European national archives meet to discuss strategic leadership, digital challenges, and cooperation, ensuring that archives remain trusted guardians of culture and history in the digital era. It provides a platform for heads of national archives to align on major issues, including artificial intelligence, the data economy, and trustworthy digital preservation. EBNA collaborates closely with the European Archives Group (EAG) to strengthen coordination. EBNA meets once every six months in the country holding the EU Presidency. 

 

Archives Portal Europe Foundation Meeting (APEF)

The Archives Portal Europe Foundation (APEF) is an international organization which brings together European State Archives and other cultural heritage institutions from over 30 countries. Its goal is the dissemination and promotion of digital archives through a common online portal, providing access to archives from thousands of institutions. APEF acts as a collaboration hub, supports the digital management of cultural data, and promotes the preservation of European cultural heritage. The APEF team, together with the heads of the European national archives, meets once every six months in the country currently holding the EU Presidency.
