Ministers responsible for cohesion policies approved conclusions on the EU agenda for cities and held an exchange of views on lessons learned from the 2021-2027 cohesion policy’s mid-term review.

The Council approved conclusions on the EU agenda for cities as a follow-up to the relevant Commission communication presented on 3 December 2025. The conclusions highlight the importance of cities along with their functional urban areas for economic, social and territorial cohesion, as well as their role in advancing social inclusion, competitiveness and innovation. The Council conclusions also recall the importance of ensuring long-term support for integrated urban development, building on the achievements of the current period, as described in the EU agenda for cities.
